Trip Report: Feb 5-14, 2017 Quark Sea Adventurer bougainvilla of Hawaii shares their trip report - and to quote ""I write this very long trip report for those more timid older travelers who want to go to Antarctica but worry about sea sickness, weather, clothing, and mostly, physical challenges. For those adventurous travelers who are healthy, physically fit, love to hike or love the outdoors, you will love Antarctica and have a wonderful time. For those not too physically fit, short, overweight, and have some health issues (like me) – you too can have a wonderful time."" www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowTopic-g1-i12337-k10248610-Trip_Report_Feb_5_14_2017_Quark_Sea_Adventurer_Part_I-Antarctic_Adventures.html

Antarctica East & West: The Peninsula in Depth” Jan. 24- Feb. 13, 2018 www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowTopic-g1-i12337-k11469482-Warning_Know_before_you_go-Antarctic_Adventures.htmlA very unique voyage on board Quark's Ocean Endeavour as it ended up blocked in by ice in the Prince Gustav Channel/Ross Island area on the west side of the peninsula for just over a week. Its worth noting that while this was happening - many vessels on the east side of the peninsula were affected by a sizeable storm that resulted in multiple missed landings. This thread contains an initial trip report by drlorimom of Cedar Rapids, Iowa - a passenger who missed the golden rule of any type of expedition travel and especially polar travel - about packing your flexibility and sense of adventure. Fellow passengers angkrb of Canberra, Australia, Inger H of San Francisco California, Steve H of Victoria Australia, Satie37 of Toronto, and Sandra G - have provided their very different experiences and opinions about being on the unique trip of a lifetime. (Note - their personal trip reports will also be added here if they do any in addition to their contribution to this existing thread). Its worth noting that golden rule below as it is plastered all over every page of Quark's website and brochures (as it is with similar wording on every other expedition companies websites etc). IMPORTANT REMINDER Embracing the unexpected is part of the legacy—and excitement—of expedition travel. When traveling in extremely remote regions, your Expedition Team must allow the sea, the ice and the weather to guide route and itinerary details. This itinerary is a tentative outline of what you’ll experience on this voyage; please be aware that no specific itinerary can be guaranteed. A measure of flexibility is something all of us must bring to a polar expedition.
